Data Architect
Department: Operations / Type: Full-time / Location: San Francisco, CA

Keas is searching for a Data Architect who is a results oriented, creative thinking self-starter. The ideal candidate will be able to both develop strategy and execute tactically in our nimble and rapid growth startup environment.

This dual role will be responsible for analysis, architecture, and design of complete big data solutions, including data acquisition, storage and transformation as well as for production database operations. You will be part of the team building a platform that will be consumed for Business Analytics, Operational Analytics, Text Analytics, & Data Services and you will also work closely with engineering staff to design a high performing and scalable production database infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a mix of engineering, data analyst/statistics and DBA/Warehouse skills and will be expected to take a leadership role and to define and implement standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and build a data platform over Big Data technologies
  • Lead innovation by exploring, investigating, recommending, benchmarking and implementing data-centric technologies for the platform
  • Design, implement and maintain an enterprise data warehouse, user-facing presentation tools and ETL processes
  • Design and implement real time, contextual analytics to optimize strategies
  • Define best practices and standards for the data modeling process
  • Build monitoring solution(s) for the data infrastructure to understand the health of the infrastructure
  • Analyze large-scale data to identify new analytics, insights, trends and relationships with a strong focus on data clustering and database optimization
  • Work closely with data analyst and engineers to design and maintain scalable data models and pipeline to develop a scalable data visualization platform
  • Automate deployment and configuration management
  • Be the technical architect, SME and point person for the data platform
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Application Engineering teams to provide platform support for applications in a very agile environment
  • Architecture and standards for a business analytics and metric warehouse
  • Implement systems for tracking data quality and consistency

Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to work with varied forms of data infrastructure, including relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL/MySQL), MapReduce/Hadoop, and column stores (e.g. Vertica/Redshift)
  • Expert knowledge of SQL
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Motivation to keep abreast of emerging technologies and pick up new skillsets quickly
  • Ability to work with a variety of teams and clients, mentor junior resources, and effectively handle multiple tasks/deadlines with success
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, especially when communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in the Business Intelligence field in a data warehouse environment which includes data design, data integration, database architecture and report creation
  • 5-8 years of experience building and managing complex products/solutions
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing complex data platform architectures with strong experience in data architecture (Data Warehousing, Data Marts, Staging).
  • Previous experience with high-scale or distributed RDBMS (Teradata, Netezza, Greenplum, Aster Data, Vertica etc)
  • Knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure (e.g. Amazon Web Services EC2, Elastic MapReduce) and considerations for scalable, distributed systems a plus
  • Experienced with text or sentiment analytics, network / graph analytics and time series modeling
  • Experienced with advanced modeling and statistical analysis against large scale datasets
  • Experience with data modeling and building large distributed systems with multi-core architectures
  • Proficient in relational and non-relational database design and programming
  • Proficient in reporting and data analytics packages like Tableau, SAS, SPSS, etc.
  • Experience with ‘Big Data’ tools like Hadoop, Hbase, CouchDD, etc.
  • Strong experience designing relational and multi-dimensional models
  • Strong experience with data warehousing technologies and ETL tools
  • Independent, self-starter with ability to think out-of-the-box
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Proven technical leadership and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field
  • Most importantly, be a good team player and have a willingness to learn and implement new technologies as needed

Senior Software Engineer (full stack)
Department: Engineering / Type: Full-time / Location: San Francisco, CA

You will build web services and interfaces for mobile and web applications used by team, clients, partners, and users of Keas, including consumer facing mobile-first apps, business-critical administration tools, and core services for keas.com.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop API services in Ruby on Rails.
  • Develop user interfaces in HTML and Javascript, using AngularJS, CoffeeScript, and Sass.
  • Participate in the design of new features, and optimize existing ones.
  • Work closely with, and incorporate feedback from, customer support, product management, and user experience design teams.
  • Provide production support, solving immediate issues and fixing bugs as required.
  • Proactively search for new ideas and technologies for improving our applications and processes.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical / Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Five or more years professional web applications development experience, using Ruby on Rails, NodeJS, Django, J2EE, or similar frameworks
  • Strong proficiency of the following languages and technologies:
  • Ruby, Python, or Java
  • Javascript
  • HTML, CSS, Sass
  • MySQL or similar relational database systems
  • Commitment to agile, test-driven development practices

Preferred candidates have experience of one or more of the following technologies:

  • Browser side development frameworks such as AngularJS.
